Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU) are small houses (typically between 300 and 1000 square feet) that are usually situated close to a primary dwelling (your house). There are unique challenges to designing and siting these small units that are distinct to ADUs so working with profesionals who understand the special requirements for a succesful ADU project is very important.

This experience set the stage for a lifelong building career. Wren started SolidBuilt Constructions Design Build Team with the vision of providing high-quality ADU homes to serve the new market demand for smaller, more efficient homes, to help keep the dream of homeownership attainable for more families.

We believe that communication is key to a successful ADU home building project. From the Design Consultation we will assign a member of our Team as your Project Manager, your personal Design-Build Pro, who will be a single-point of contact from the initial consultation to the final walkthrough to capture all your ADU dreams and make them a reality in your backyard.

We begin with a scheduled 30 to 45 minutes on the phone to learn all we can about your dream ADU. To prepare for this call, we will ask you to send some pictures of your yard and where you would like to have your ADU. Based on our experience, by the end of the call we will give you a free budget estimate of what your ADU project will cost.

This is a more detailed review of the specifics of your site and vision. An easy first step to get you the information you will need to move forward with confidence. Often this is held on-site at your home, but we can perform this digitally if distance and timing make an in person meeting challenging.

Document Development
This is when you begin to work with your Project Manager (PM) to create the construction documents (CDs). You will also be assigned a Designer to help you select all of your finishes and special ADU details during this phase. The Designer will report to your PM, who is your single-point of contact or Team Captain to make sure everything turns out the way you want.

Your PM will use the CD's to gather firm pricing for all materials and proposals from every subcontractor required to build your ADU. Upon your approval, your PM will submit the CD's to the local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), usually the City or County, and apply for your Building Permit. Working with the subcontractors, your PM wi
Your PM will use the CD's to gather firm pricing for all materials and proposals from every subcontractor required to build your ADU. Upon your approval, your PM will submit the CD's to the local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), usually the City or County, and apply for your Building Permit. Working with the subcontractors, your PM will create a Construction Schedule to detail the process and timeline that crews will be onsite working on your ADU.

Your PM will lead your ADU construction project, ordering all materials for On-Time delivery and scheduling the subcontractors for proper workflow. Regular meetings will be held with you and we have an online portal that you can log into daily to see the progress of your ADU so you will have a clear understanding of what is happening with the build.

When the build is complete, your PM will go through everything with you to make sure it is "Just Right". When everything is complete and you are satisfied, we will Turn-Over the Key's and the ADU is yours.
